This hospital was founded in 1909 and situated in Hualien City. She belonged to Japanese colonial period Taiwan Governor Office and named “Hualien Port Hospital” which was in charge of the public diseases, medical staff training, medical research and public health.

    In 1941, founded “Hualien Port Hospital Yu-Li Branch”. 　

    On November 21, 1945, this hospital renamed “Taiwan Provincial Hualien Port Hospital” and total employees were 58 persons. 　

    On January 1, 1949, this hospital renamed “Taiwan provincial Hualien Hospital” which belonged to Taiwan Provincial Government Health Department. From 1909 till now(year of 2007), She has 98-year history and has been through nine terms superintendents. The organization has been growing with the historic orbits. From 1945 till now, doctor's numbers increase from 7 to 34 persons and bed numbers expand 330 beds. In initial stage this hospital only set up 7 departments, and in 1982, had 14 departments. Till now, we have 29 departments and 324 employees. 　

     In August 1997, founded “Hualein Hospital Fong-Bin Branch”. 　

    On July 1, 1999, this hospital belongs to the Department of Health of the Executive Yuan and renames “Hualien Hospital, Department of Health, Executive Yuan, R.O.C.”.
